How much meat in 1/2 a cow or steer?

1/4 of a beef = approx. 120 pounds of meat
1/2 of a beef = approx. 240 pounds of meat

We use Magro’s in Springfield for our processing. They are very friendly and helpful. The vacuum packaging is so nice.

Is there a deposit to reserve my 1/2 or 1/4?

Yes. 1/4 of beef = $200 deposit
        1/2 of beef = $500 deposit

Deposit will go toward the total cost of the steer

How do I pick the cuts I want?
Magro’s will call you after the steer is hauled in. You tell them which cuts you prefer.

What cuts are in half a cow or steer?

 In a 1/2 of a beef, there are about 12 roasts, 14 t-bone steaks, 5 sirloin steaks, 5 sirloin tip steaks, 14 rib-eye steaks, and 6 round steaks. including short ribs, 1 flank steak, stew meat, 1/2 a brisket & about 75 lbs of ground beef.

Any cuts you don’t want will be made into ground beef.

(amounts depend on the size of the cuts you request.)
Soft tissue cuts are also an option. Such as liver, heart or tongue

How do you pay for my beef?

1. To me: check or cash when steer is hauled to Magro’s 
2. To Magro’s: check or credit card when you pick up beef

When do I pick up my beef?
Magro’s will call when your beef is ready to pickup. This is about 2 weeks after it is hauled in.

How is the meat packaged?

Magro’s uses plastic vacuum packaging.
You’ll pick up boxes that hold 50 pounds each.

How big of a freezer will you need?

1/4 of beef = 5 cubic ft freezer
1/2 of beef = 10 cubic ft freezer
If you can fit in the freezer, it’ll fit.
